The Phoenix Suns officially appointed Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Jordan Ott as the new head coach, replacing Mike Budenholzer, who has had a poor record this season.

Ott, 40, has been an NBA assistant coach since 2012. He has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks, and has worked under coach Kenny Atkinson for a long time. He has rich tactical experience and player development background.

Ott also worked as a video coordinator at Michigan State University and has a close relationship with current Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia, a former member of the school's basketball team.

Now that Ott has become the head coach of the Phoenix Suns, it means the end of the short-lived coaching trend of the team in the past year. Budenholzer just took office in May last year and was originally expected to replicate the glory of leading the Milwaukee Bucks to win the championship.

However, the Phoenix Suns have only achieved 36 wins and 46 losses this season. They had a good record of 8 wins and 1 loss in the early part of the season, but then collapsed due to injuries and chemistry problems and eventually missed the playoffs.

Although stars Kevin Durant and Devin Booker remained generally healthy, Bradley Beal missed more than 20 games due to injury. Coupled with unstable rotation lineup, confusing use of rookies, and core center Jusuf Nurkic's poor form and public criticism of the coach's poor communication, the team has always failed to play consistently.

With Budenholzer fired and Ott taking over as coach, the Phoenix Suns may undergo a more substantial restructuring. Faced with high salaries, trading restrictions and the challenge of the Big Three, Ott will shoulder the responsibility of rebuilding the team's competitiveness.
