After nine seasons at Girona, Juanpe is about to retire from his career. Since joining the club in the summer of 2016, the central defender from the Canary Islands has gradually grown into one of the most representative players in the club's recent history, playing 265 games for the team, becoming the second-most-played player in the club's history.  

Over the years, Juanpe has been present at important moments in the club's history, having witnessed and participated in two promotions to La Liga (2017 and 2022) and played a key role in the club's dream of playing in Europe.  

Juanpe is more than just a player for Girona CF. He is a role model for the club both on and off the pitch, demonstrating a high level of dedication, professionalism and leadership.  

His positive role in the locker room, his unreserved commitment to the team and his deep affection for the club have earned him widespread respect and love from Girona fans.  

Girona released a video on social media, in which Juanpe said: "Hello, dear fans. I am usually low-key and not very good at expressing myself, but this time, I feel it is necessary to say a few words to everyone in person. In order not to miss important content, I wrote down some key points in advance. It's been nine years, and it's time to say goodbye. "
