On August 10th, The Athletic and multiple sources revealed that the Sacramento Kings, in their pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga, may also turn their attention to Josh Giddy of the Chicago Bulls. The 22-year-old, 6-foot-8 Australian guard has demonstrated excellent playmaking and versatility in the league and is considered a better fit for the Kings than Kuminga.

Selected immediately after Kuminga in the 2021 draft, Giddy started 54 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder in his rookie season. His exceptional passing vision and court control make his size particularly valuable in today's increasingly position-blurring NBA. While his shooting and defense were still somewhat raw when he entered the league, he has steadily improved his shooting percentage over the past few seasons and gradually addressed his defensive shortcomings.

Kings team reporter Allen Stiles recently discussed the team's possible interest in Giedy, revealing that internal sources indicate the Kings may be keeping an eye on the guard. In the latest simulated trade scenario, the Kings would send Malik Monk and a 2030 lottery-protected first-round pick to the Bulls in exchange for Giedy.

Despite his impressive performance for the Bulls toward the end of last season, management appears unwilling to meet his contract demands. If the Kings are willing to match their offer for Kuminga—around $23 million per year—and if Guidi is willing to sign a four-year contract, a deal could materialize. An internal league survey by The Athletic also revealed that most team executives believe Guidi deserves a four-year or longer contract and is superior to Kuminga in shooting, passing, rebounding, and advanced statistical analysis.
