The Netherlands, nicknamed the "Oranje," will host Lithuania in the final round of Group G in the European 2026 World Cup qualifiers. In an interview, Koeman stated that his team must maintain better consistency and aim for victory in this match.
In the previous round of qualifiers, the Netherlands came from behind to draw 1-1 with Poland after Depay scored.
The Netherlands currently leads the standings with 17 points, 3 points ahead of second-placed Poland, meaning the "Oranje" are just one step away from qualifying for the World Cup.
Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman said, "Things won't go wrong again, so everyone can see how tired the players are. We hope to play a great game and score some great goals."
Reflecting on their previous performance against Poland, Koeman said, "Perhaps we were a bit slow to react during transitions, and there were moments when we were too easily beaten by our opponents. We also need to increase our sense of urgency."
"Everyone was unhappy after the game, not because we failed to advance early, but because we didn't play well. We didn't create many chances, and we made some mistakes in defense that shouldn't have happened."
In addition, Koeman emphasized, "However, it is a good thing to have this feeling. You don't need to play a perfect 9 or 10 in every game, but you must maintain a higher level of consistency in games where you perform averagely."
