Lyon announced on its official website on Tuesday that the club has signed England U21s international midfielder Tyler Morton from Liverpool.
According to the Ligue 1 club's official statement, Morton has signed on a long-term five-year deal which runs runs until the summer of 2030, for a transfer fee of €10 million, excluding a €5 million potential add-ons. About Tyler Morton
Morton, 22, was born on October 31, 2002, in Wallasey, England. Standing 1.82 meters tall, he primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but can also play as a center midfielder.
Morton joined Liverpool's renowned Kirkby youth academy at the age of seven and was one of the Reds' most anticipated academy wonderkids. He completed his Liverpool first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a Carabao Cup match against Norwich City in September 2021.
The following August, Morton was loaned-out to Blackburn Rovers, where he helped the club reach the FA Cup quarterfinals.
On the 2023 summer transfer window deadline day, Morton was loaned-out to Hull City.
During his loan spell with the Tigers, Morton's impressive performances attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.
Upon his return from his loan spell last summer, Morton was officially promoted to the Liverpool first-team permanently. However, injuries prevented him from the opportunity to help the club win their 20th league title.
