The Utah Jazz announced that center Walker Kessler will undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

The 24-year-old center was sidelined after playing only five games this season. He will undergo surgery on November 6 in Los Angeles, performed by renowned sports medicine specialist Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

Kessler was on fire at the start of the regular season, averaging 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.8 blocks per game, with a field goal percentage of 70.3% and showing significant improvement in his three-point shooting (8 of 6).

In the season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers, Kessler scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks on 7-of-7 shooting. He then added 25 points and 11 rebounds in a victory against the Phoenix Suns, becoming a key player in the Jazz's frontcourt.

However, injury abruptly interrupted his excellent start. Kessler felt discomfort in his left shoulder during the road trip, subsequently returning to Utah for examination and missing two games. Ultimately, the team confirmed the injury was serious and required surgery. It's worth noting that he had also missed several games during the preseason due to the same issue.
