Torino announced on Thursday that it has loaned Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone until the end of the 2025/26 season. Once the conditions set out in the contract are met, a buyout clause will become mandatory. Simeone will then sign with Torino until June 2028, with an option for a one-year extension.
There are signs that Simeone Jr. will wear the number 18 jersey in Turin.
The 30-year-old Simeone, son of renowned Argentine coach Diego Simeone, made his professional debut for his native River Plate on August 4, 2013. He subsequently played for Banfield, Genoa, Fiorentina, Cagliari, and Verona before joining Napoli on a loan-to-buy deal in August 2022.
To date, Simeone has made 103 appearances for Napoli, scoring 14 goals and providing 4 assists. He has participated in two Champions League campaigns with the team and won the Serie A title twice, in 2023 and 2025.
After completing the transfer, Simeone Jr. issued a farewell statement on social media. He wrote: "Dear Napoli... You can't imagine how difficult it is for me to write this. I have thought about what to write and how to write it countless times, but it is really too difficult."
"During this difficult time, I just want to thank you for everything you have done for me. From the first day I joined, I felt your support and warmth. Everything I do is just to repay you for everything you have given me."
"Now I understand why they say: 'In Naples, you cry twice.' Yes... you're right. But I haven't really left, because I've left behind friends, memories, and a history that no one can erase. Naples will always be with me, wherever I am."
"I want to thank you all: my teammates, the coaching staff, the doctors, the physios, the kit managers, the chefs, and all the people who work behind the scenes for Napoli. You are responsible for making the Napoli fans happy. And the fans, without you, there would be no real Napoli. It is you who make this club so great! It is you, the Neapolitans, who make people fall in love with Napoli. You are unique."
