Less than a week after being waived by the Los Angeles Lakers, seventh-year NBA guard Shake Milton appears to be on the verge of a new chapter in his career.

According to reliable sources, the 28-year-old American player is about to join Serbian powerhouse Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade. According to BasketNews, Milton's negotiations with Partizan Bet Belgrade have entered an advanced stage.

Milton himself seemed to have sent a signal of his impending signing through social media, where he posted an eye, a black and white love heart, and a checkered flag emoji, indicating that he was leaving for the black and white Belgrade Partizan team.

Milton was selected with the 54th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and played in 359 NBA regular season games for six teams: Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers.

So far, Milton has averaged 8.1 points, 2.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game, with a shooting percentage of 45% and a three-point shooting percentage of 36%. He has established a firm foothold in the league with his smooth ball-handling ability, excellent mid-range and long-range shooting and calm rhythm control.

In the 2024-25 season, Milton played for the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers, playing a total of 57 games for the two teams, averaging 14.7 minutes per game, 5.5 points, 1.8 assists and 1.8 rebounds. Since the contract is non-guaranteed, the Los Angeles Lakers chose to cut him to free up salary space to sign Marcus Smart.

If the contract is finally signed, this will be Milton's first time playing in Europe. Belgrade Partizan is a European powerhouse that competes in the EuroLeague and the ABA League. It already has many former NBA players, including Jabari Parker, Alexi Pokusevski and Frank Ntilikina.
