According to New York Post reporter Stefan Bondi, citing league sources, the Knicks plan to trade Guerschon Yabusele before the February 5 trade deadline. They are currently in discussions with several teams, and further developments are pending.

The 30-year-old French forward, standing at 2.01 meters tall and weighing 120 kilograms, signed a two-year, $11.7 million contract with the Knicks in July 2025. He has been the subject of trade rumors for weeks due to his inability to integrate into Mike Brown's tactical system.

ESPN data shows that Yabusele's performance with the Knicks this season has been less than ideal. So far, he has played 36 regular season games for the Knicks, averaging only 2.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 9.4 minutes per game, with his field goal percentage and three-point percentage dropping to 39.4% and 31.7%, respectively.

Moreover, Yabusele's NBA journey was far from smooth. As the 16th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NBA draft, he played four seasons with the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers before moving overseas. During that time, he played 144 regular season games for the Celtics and 76ers, averaging 6.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, with a 48.9% field goal percentage and a 36.9% three-point percentage.

Bondi did not specify which teams the Knicks had negotiated with, but the Denver Nuggets and San Antonio Spurs are widely considered potential suitors for Yabusele. The Nuggets competed for Yabusele alongside the Knicks last offseason, while Spurs star Victor Wimbanyama is Yabusele's compatriot and national team teammate.

Another team to watch is the New Orleans Pelicans. The Knicks are currently quite interested in Pelicans point guard Jose Alvarado, believing he would be a perfect fit for the team's rotation needs. Meanwhile, Pelicans players Sadiq Bey and Eve Missy may also be on the Knicks' front office's shortlist.
