Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe revealed in the pre-match press conference that the recovery progress of several key players is positive.
Howe is hopeful Joelinton and Jacob Ramsey will be available for Newcastle's Premier League clash away at Brighton, their first away game after the international break as they seek their first away win of the 2025-26 season.
At the press conference, Howe pointed out that although Joelinton has a minor injury, he is expected to participate in pre-match training, while Ramsey has returned to normal training. Howe said: "Jolinton has a small problem, but he is in good condition. Ramsey has also trained well during the international match. We are very happy with his condition."
Regarding long-term injuries, Valentino Livramento has removed his protective gear and is recovering well, while Ioan Visa has returned to grass training for the first time and is progressing well with his knee injury. Howe stressed that the team will proceed cautiously with their return to action.
Newcastle have drawn 0-0 in their last three away league games against Brighton, remaining unbeaten in their last five encounters. Howe said, "We'll continue to adjust game by game. Our away performances have had many bright spots. A solid defensive structure is a positive sign, and offensively, I believe we'll soon see a breakthrough."
Howe also praised Brighton as a team with excellent management and a complete lineup, and expected a high-quality game: "They played well, and we performed well at their home last year. That point was very valuable in the end."
