Hawks' star Trae Young suffers a serious right knee injury and will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

The Atlanta Hawks suffered a heavy blow when their star point guard and four-time All-Star Trae Young sprained his right medial collateral ligament in a game against the Brooklyn Nets and is expected to be out for at least four weeks.

The team confirmed that Young underwent an MRI on Friday, which showed no serious structural damage, but he will require rest and rehabilitation. The injury occurred late in the first quarter when Young collided with teammate Mohammed Gay while defending on the baseline. Gay fell and landed directly on Young's right knee, causing it to bend backward.

Young collapsed in pain on the spot. Although he was able to walk back to the bench and briefly speak with head coach Quin Snyder, he then returned to the locker room and was ruled out of the game before halftime. The Hawks stated that Young has begun rehabilitation and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Based on the timeline, Yang is expected to miss at least 15 games, which will not only affect the team's performance but may also disqualify him from the season's awards due to insufficient playing time.

Since entering the NBA in 2018, Young has been the Hawks' offensive cornerstone. Last season, he averaged 24.2 points and a league-high 11.6 assists per game, controlling the team's tactics and tempo. This season, he continues to shoulder the main scoring and playmaking responsibilities, and his absence will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the team.

Young averaged 20.8 points in the first four games of the season, but he only played 7 minutes against the Nets before leaving the game due to injury, scoring only 6 points, which reduced his season average to 17.8 points. The Hawks narrowly defeated the Nets 117-112 in that game.
