The treble winner returns, former Parma coach Chivu officially takes over Inter Milan

Inter Milan announced on Monday that Christian Chivu will replace Simone Inzaghi as first-team coach from today. The two parties signed a two-year contract, valid until June 30, 2027.

Chivu, 44, is a legendary Romanian defender in the early 21st century. He played for Inter Milan for seven seasons as a player. As a member of Inter Milan's 2010 treble, he won 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup, 3 Serie A titles, 2 Italian Cups and 2 Italian Super Cups with the team.

In July 2018, Chivu started his coaching career at Inter Milan's U14 team, and then served as head coach of Inter Milan's U17, U18 and U19 teams. In February 2025, he took charge of the first team for the first time in Parma and successfully completed the task of relegation.

After completing the signing, Chivu said in a statement: "I am very honored to have this opportunity. I have passion and ambition, and I will pass this spirit on to my players. We must show the style that Inter Milan should have, go all out and fight to the end for victory."
