The 2025/26 Bundesliga season will enter its ninth round, with Borussia Dortmund traveling to Augsburg for their home game. Dortmund coach Nico Kerber stated in an interview that goalkeeper Kerber has the ability to bring composure and confidence to the team and has also displayed exceptional performance in the match.

In the earlier second round of the German Cup, Borussia Dortmund equalized in regular time thanks to a goal from Brandt, and eventually defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 4-2 in a penalty shootout, with goalkeeper Kerber making a crucial save in the penalty shootout.

Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac said, "Kerber has had many brilliant moments here, and I know he has always performed well. Sometimes there may be one or two problems, but that is not entirely his responsibility; it is a problem for the whole team."

Speaking about defender Walmad Anton's performance, Niko Kovac said, "Walmad Anton is an incredibly reliable presence for us. Whether I play him at center-back or right-back, he performs exceptionally well. When he plays center-back, he takes on more responsibility, including directing his teammates and organizing the defense."
