Nottingham Forest have officially announced the signing of Brazilian defender Antonio Cuiabano. The left-back, who played in all four of Botafogo's Club World Cup matches this summer, has signed a four-year contract.
The 22-year-old Brazilian talent has been an important member of Botafogo's squad in recent years. Since joining from Gremio in 2024, he has made 60 appearances for the team in all competitions.
In May 2023, Cuiabano made his Brazilian debut, joining Botafogo along with two new players, Igor Jesus and John Victor, and won the Brazilian National Championship and Libertadores Cup double with the team in 2024.
A versatile left-winger, Cuiabano primarily plays as a left-back in a four-man defense for the Brazilian national team. He excelled in Botafogo's attacking end, scoring seven goals and providing six assists.
Nottingham Forest's Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson, stressed: "Our task this summer is to ensure that the squad has sufficient competitiveness and depth in all positions, while also identifying young players with potential from around the world to inject momentum into the long-term development of the club."
"Cuyabano is a young player with great potential who has attracted the attention of several clubs. Although he is only 22 years old, he has shown considerable game experience for his peers. We are confident in his future development."
