Rennes officially announced on Thursday that French striker Esteban Le Paul has transferred from Angers. The two sides signed a four-year contract, which is valid until June 30, 2029.

The official also confirmed that Le Paul will wear the No. 9 jersey of Rennes.

The 25-year-old Le Paul came through Lyon's youth academy and played for Epinal and US Orleans in his early career. He moved to Angers for €150,000 in early 2024 and has made 50 appearances so far, scoring 17 goals and providing 3 assists.

Le Paul's contract at Angers was originally scheduled to expire in June 2028. According to multiple sources, his transfer fee was 13.5 million euros, which could reach up to 15 million euros after taking into account floating bonuses.

Arnaud Pouille, Executive Chairman and General Manager of Rennes, commented on the transfer: "Rennes is delighted to welcome Esteban. He is an instinctive player with a winning mentality. He has steadily improved at Angers, and his 13 goals last season clearly demonstrated his progress. His unique career path shows us that to achieve your goals, you must never give up. Rennes sporting director Loic Desiré added: "His scoring ability is undoubted and his potential is huge. He has had an exceptional career, but we believe that emerging talent has nothing to do with age. When you see him on the pitch, you can immediately see that he has an innate goalscoring instinct. He is a selfless player with a strong sense of teamwork and excellent positioning. Our goal is obviously to strengthen our attacking line and use his current form to achieve our goals."

Le Paul said: "I have received a warm welcome from everyone at the club. My first impression of Rennes was very good, especially when I discovered this brand new and high-quality training center. It has everything I need to work well. I feel like I have taken an important step in my career. I understand the coach's tactical philosophy and I believe that Rennes' project will allow me to fully display my talents."
