NBC Sports announced on Monday that the 62-year-old "God of Basketball" Michael Jordan will serve as the platform's special NBA commentator starting next season.

This is the first time that Jordan has participated in a TV broadcast as a commentator. He also expressed his inner expectations in a statement: "I am sincerely excited to see the NBA return to NBC. The NBA games broadcast by NBC in those years played an important role in my career. I am very excited to participate in it as a special commentator. I look forward to meeting you all in the broadcast this October."

"Michael's legacy on and off the court needs no further explanation," said Rick Cordeira, president of NBC Sports. "We are extremely proud to have him join our broadcast team."

With the addition of Jordan, NBC's NBA broadcast team has become even stronger. So far, NBC has invited Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller to serve as game analysts, Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter to serve as studio commentators, and Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle to be responsible for on-site commentary. They also signed Emmy Award-winning senior producer Frank DiGracchi as the coordinating producer of the broadcast.

According to the agreement reached with the NBA, NBC will broadcast NBA games continuously from next season to the 2035/36 season, covering the regular season, All-Star Game and one-third of the playoffs (including the conference finals) every Monday, Tuesday and Sunday. The games will be broadcast on the Peacock streaming platform, marking NBC's return to the NBA after a lapse of 23 years.
