Newcastle United announced on Saturday that they will part ways with England right-back Kieran Trippier, whose contract expires this summer.
The 35-year-old Trippier came through Manchester City's youth academy and made his professional debut for Barnsley in the Championship on February 9, 2010. He then played for Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur, and Atletico Madrid before joining Newcastle United in January 2022 for £12 million.
To date, Trippier has made 157 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 4 goals and providing 29 assists, winning one English League Cup title with the team. He has also represented England 54 times, reaching the European Championship final twice and the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Regarding Trippier's departure, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe commented: "Keeland has always made outstanding contributions to us both on and off the pitch. Since joining, he has been committed to raising the standards and has changed the course of the club."
“His performance on the field is consistently at the highest level. He has built a strong working relationship with his teammates. His excellent skills have elevated the team's overall level, and his accurate crossing ability has created countless goals and opportunities for his teammates.”
"His leadership is invaluable. His experience always serves as a calming force in difficult times, and his fighting spirit and will to win constantly inspire his teammates to move forward."
“Although we are about to say goodbye to Kieran, we also know that there are still many goals to strive for this season. I believe that Kieran will do his best to bring his Newcastle United career to a perfect end.”
Newcastle United's sporting director, Ross Wilson, added: "Kieran should be incredibly proud of his outstanding contributions to Newcastle United over the past four and a half years."
“I have admired Kieran for many years. After observing him closely in recent months, I have felt his influence as a leader both on and off the field even more.”
"When Kieran leaves, he will be respected and appreciated by the entire Newcastle United community. We wish him all the best for the future."
Trippier said: "After four and a half years at this great club, I feel it's time to leave. This is where I feel most at home. I have mixed feelings right now, and I will really miss it."
"I sincerely thank the fans for their unwavering support through good times and bad. You have always supported me and have always been with me."
"It's always hard to say goodbye to my teammates. The journey we've shared together is a wonderful memory I will never forget. I will miss all of you, but it was really, really special to lift the trophy with you – it was the best moment of my career."
“I would also like to express my sincerest gratitude to head coach Eddie Howe, the entire coaching staff, and the backstage crew. The head coach signed me twice out of trust, giving me the opportunity to represent the club and serve as captain. Most importantly, we successfully won a trophy.”
"I will miss everyone at the club. Thank you all."
