West Ham United's young defender Oliver Scars says he and the team can learn valuable lessons from the 2-2 draw against Brighton as they work to improve their Premier League ranking. He was frustrated after a clearance error that led to a winning goal against Fulham, but manager Nuno Espirito Santo gave him a starting opportunity, which boosted his confidence.  

Oliver Scalze delivered an outstanding performance on both ends of the pitch, contributing 3 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 8 clearances, along with 2 shots, one of which grazed the post and went wide in the first half. The match ultimately ended in a draw, with West Ham United securing a point thanks to an early goal from Jarrod Bowen and a penalty from Lucas Paquetá. Oliver Scalze stated that the team is heading in the right direction towards 2026.  

After the match, Oliver Scalze said he had bounced back from last week's defeat. He stated, "Every player goes through slumps, and that loss was particularly hard for me because I value this club very much. I hope to contribute more to the team."

After playing two matches in three consecutive days, West Ham United will return to their Rush Green training ground to prepare for Saturday's away game against Wolves and next week's home game against Nottingham Forest. Oliver Scals said that while he enjoys the tight schedule, he also knows that getting points quickly is crucial in competition with teams close to them in points.  

Oliver Scals added: "We must quickly focus on the next game against Wolves, which will be a great match, and hopefully the team can get three points. The Premier League is the world's top league, bringing together the best players from around the globe, and we know how challenging it is."  

“This is a tough test, and we also need to deal with the impact of two players participating in the Africa Cup of Nations. We will do our best and train for it every day. Maintaining focus and good form is very important, as is focusing on recovery. Hopefully, we can gradually accumulate more points.”
