Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George has been suddenly punished by the league and will be suspended for 25 games for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy.
This news dealt a heavy blow to the 76ers, who were on the rise, and George himself immediately issued a statement to publicly clarify the reason for the suspension and sincerely apologize.
Regarding the specific reasons for the violation, George revealed that it was related to his recent mental health treatment. In his statement, he explained, "Over the past few years, I have emphasized the importance of mental health. However, in the recent process of seeking treatment for my personal issues, I made a mistake and mistakenly took an inappropriate medication."
Faced with severe punishment, George did not choose to evade responsibility but instead took full account of it. He frankly admitted that he had let everyone down at a crucial moment and regretted his poor decision-making.
In his apology letter, George wrote: "I want to offer my sincerest apologies to the 76ers management, my teammates, and all the Philadelphia fans. I take responsibility for the bad decisions I made in this process."
Despite facing a 25-game suspension, George promised not to let it get him down. He stated that he will use this time to focus on physical and mental recovery, ensuring he returns in peak condition to help the team make a playoff run.
Teammate Andre Drummond has also publicly voiced his support, stating that the entire team will stand with George through this difficult time.
