St. Pauli announced on its official website on Friday that French winger Mathias Pereira Lage from Brest has joined the club as a free agent after his contract expired.
According to the Bundesliga club's official statement, Pereira Lage has signed on a three-year contract with the club which runs until the summer of 2028.
After completing his joining procedures, Pereira Lage, who was interviewed by St. Pauli's official website for the first time, said: "I have spent my career in France so far, and now I am looking forward to playing in a brand new league."
"St. Pauli is a very interesting club. In the conversation with the club officials, I am very clear about how to use my abilities to help the team achieve its goals for next season. I am very much looking forward to starting the pre-season as soon as possible."
About Mathias Pereira Lage
Pereira Lage, 28, was born on November 30, 1996 in Clermont-Ferrand, France. He is 1.80 meters tall and primarily plays as a left winger. He can also play as a right winger or attacking midfielder. He has dual French and Portuguese nationality.
Pereira Lage joined the youth academy of his hometown club Clermont at the age of 9, and completed his Clermont first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in February 2016.
In July 2019, Pereira Lage moved to Angers for €1.5 million.
After leaving the club at the end of his contract in the summer of 2022, Pereira Lage joined Brest as a free agent.
During his three-year spell with Les Pirates, Pereira Lage played 99 times for the Ligue 1 club across all competitions, scored 9 goals, assisted 13 times, qualified for the Champions League once with the club, and reached the Coupe de France quarter-finals once.
