Premier League – Manchester City 2-0 Wolves, ending two-game losing streak; Malmush and Semenho both scored.

After the 23rd round of the 2025/26 Premier League season, Manchester City defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at home, ending their two-game losing streak. They are currently second in the table with 46 points from 14 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses, four points behind league leaders Arsenal with one game played.

Wolves are now bottom of the league with 8 points after this loss, with a record of 1 win, 5 draws and 17 losses.

Manchester City got off to a dream start in just six minutes: Matheus Nunes delivered a cross from the right wing, and Omar Malmush volleyed home his first Premier League goal of the season. In the 10th minute, Marc Guey's long pass from midfield linked up with Antoine Semenio, who surged into the box, but his shot was saved by José Sá. In the 17th minute, Malmush, with his back to Santiago Bueno, passed back to Rajan Cherki, whose follow-up shot flew high into the stands.

In the 35th minute, Abdulqdir Husanov delivered a precise long pass from midfield to Malmush on the left side of the penalty area, who evaded the defense and fired a low shot that struck the right post. In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Bernardo Silva passed the ball to the right wing from the edge of the penalty area, and Semenio broke into the box before slotting a shot into the bottom left corner to score his first goal for Manchester City.

Goals from Malmush and Semenho gave Manchester City a 2-0 lead going into halftime. However, they conceded a goal in the second half: in the 55th minute, Wolves won a free kick on the left edge of the penalty area, but João Gomez's shot curled just over the bar. In the 66th minute, Matthäus Mane's free kick from the right was headed towards goal by Yerson Mosquera, but Gánluigi Donnarumma made the save. Mane then orchestrated another attack, sending in a cross, but Rajislav Krejć's header inside the box went just wide.

In the 78th minute, Phil Foden passed the ball centrally, and Semenho's shot from the right side of the penalty area hit the crossbar. In the 87th minute, Mane took a corner kick from the left, and Mosquera's header went just over the bar. Neither side managed to score again, and Manchester City ultimately won 2-0 at home.
