Hoffenheim officially announced on Tuesday that Czech right-back Vladimir Caofar has signed a free transfer from West Ham United. The two sides have signed a one-year contract valid until June 30, 2026.

The 32-year-old Vladimir Caofar, who has played for several Czech clubs including Hrucin, Opava, Liberec and Slavia Prague, joined West Ham United for €6 million in October 2020. So far, he has made 180 appearances for West Ham United, provided 20 assists, and won the UEFA Euro 2022/23 season with the team.

Caofar has also represented the Czech national team 55 times, including two European Championships (2021 and 2024). To date, he has one goal and 12 assists for the national team.

For Hoffenheim, Caofar's signing is expected to fill the void left by Valentin Jandrei, who has been sidelined for a long time due to a torn syndesmotic ligament and a lateral ankle fracture. Hoffenheim's sporting director Andreas Schickel explained after the signing: "Due to Valentin Jandrei's serious injury and the long-term absence he will suffer, we have to take action in the transfer market again to strengthen the right-back position for next season in a responsible manner. With Vladimir's signing, we have a player who fits perfectly with the team's style and can immediately fill the gap."

He added: "Vladimir is an experienced international player who has played in the Premier League. Due to his rich experience, he will be able to establish himself in the Bundesliga with almost no adaptation period. We firmly believe that he will be an ideal addition to the team in the new season with his excellent mentality and personal ability."

Caofar said: "After spending several years in England and West Ham United, I am now looking forward to a new challenge in the Bundesliga. My communication with Hoffenheim went very smoothly, so I made the decision without much thought. I believe this team has great potential. I hope to help the team achieve our goals in the new season."

According to the official statement, Cao Far will wear the No. 32 jersey at Hoffenheim.
