The NBA officially announced today that Sacramento Kings starting guard Dennis Schroder has been suspended for three games without pay for attempting to assault an opposing player after the game.

Salary experts estimate that the suspension will cost the German star approximately $290,000 in salary. A league investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a game on December 28th where the Kings played the Los Angeles Lakers on the road. The Kings lost to the Lakers 101-125.

Although the official announcement did not name names, multiple leading media outlets confirmed that the person involved in the conflict was Lakers star Luka Doncic. It was reported that the two had a heated verbal altercation on the court.

During a timeout, Doncic brought up an old issue, mocking Schroder for rejecting a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Lakers years ago (despite Schroder's repeated denials). This move completely ignited Schroder's anger.

About 40 minutes after the game ended, Schroder did not leave with the team immediately. Instead, he blocked Doncic in the arena corridor and attempted to physically assault him. Fortunately, Lakers players and arena security intervened in time to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Schroder averaged 13 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game this season, making him a key offensive weapon for the Kings from the perimeter. With the penalty taking effect, he will be suspended starting with the home game against the Houston Rockets and will miss the subsequent rematch against the Lakers and the crucial game against the New York Knicks.
