The Sacramento Kings officially announced that the team has completed the contract extension with forward Doug McDermott.
According to team policy, the specific terms of the contract were not disclosed. According to previous reports, the contract is for one year and worth $3.6 million, which is the veteran salary for players with more than 10 years of experience.
McDermott was a lottery pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, selected 11th overall by the Denver Nuggets. He is currently entering his 12th NBA season and his second with the Sacramento Kings.
In the 2024-25 season, McDermott played a total of 42 games for the team. Although his average playing time was only 8.1 minutes per game, he showed stable outside firepower with a three-point shooting percentage of 43.6%, becoming a reliable player on the bench.
So far in his career, McDermott has played in 697 NBA games, averaging 8.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, with an overall shooting percentage of 47.0%, a three-point shooting percentage of 41.1%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 80.4%.
In NBA history, McDermott's three-point shooting percentage ranks 21st (among players with at least 250 shots) and ranks seventh among active players, which shows his accuracy and efficiency from the outside.
Despite limited playing time last season, McDermott's off-ball movement and cutting ability on offense were still a threat, effectively opening up the floor and creating offensive opportunities for the main players. As an experienced veteran, he also brought a stable and professional influence to the locker room.
