Napoli took the initiative after the opening. In the 17th minute, McTominay took a free kick from the front field and shot directly at the goal, but was saved by Turati. In the 19th minute, Gilmour took a corner kick from the left, and Rahmani headed the ball in the penalty area but it went slightly wide. In the 22nd minute, Spinazzola made a cross from the left, and Lukaku headed the ball high in front of the goal. Gilmour continued to take the corner kick from the left, and the ball hit Marin's head and went out of the baseline.

In the 29th minute, Monza launched a counterattack with a long pass from Pedro Pereira in the midfield, and Castrovilli's shot with the outside of his foot went slightly wide. After that, neither side made any progress, and the game ended in a goalless draw at the end of the first half.

Second Half

In the second half, the two teams changed sides. In the 69th minute, Laspadori sent a precise long pass from the midfield, and Politano's single-handed shot was saved by Turati. However, Napoli still broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute: Laspadori made a cross at a 45-degree angle in front of the penalty area, and McTominay scored a header in front of the goal.
