Napoli announced on its official website on Thursday that Manchester City's Belgium international midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has joined the club as a free agent after his contract expired.

According to the Serie A champions' official statement, De Bruyne has signed on a short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend for a further year.

In addition, according to the news brought by Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, due to the inability to reach agreement on personal terms, wages, bonus and add-ons, the former Chelsea and Wolfsburg player whose nickname is Tintin eventually decided to refuse to join Chicago Fire despite the two sides having approached each other a long time ago.

He also reiterated that Liverpool had never approach De Bruyne, hence everything was falsely claimed by infamously notorious writers from extremely low credibility online media outlets who kept using this matter to deliberately attempt clickbaits!

Kevin De Bruyne, 33 years old, nicknamed Tintin, was born on June 28, 1991 in Drongen, Ghent, Belgium. He is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a center midfielder.

De Bruyne joined the youth academy of his hometown club Drongen at the age of 6, and joined the Gent youth academy two years later. During this spell, he once revealed in an interview that he was a loyal fan of Liverpool and dreamed of playing at Anfield one day.

In 2005, De Bruyne moved to Genk's youth academy and completed his Genk first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in May 2009.

During his four-year spell at Genk, De Bruyne won the Jupiler Pro League once, the Belgian Cup once and the Belgian Super Cup once with the club.

In August 2015, De Bruyne joined Manchester City for £55 million, becoming the most expensive Belgian player in football history.

During his decade-long spell with the Cityzens, De Bruyne played 422 times for Manchester City in all competitions, scored 108 goals and provided 177 assists.
