September 9th : Free agent Landry Shamet has once again become a hot topic during the offseason. The 29- year-old guard was recently revealed by the Associated Press to have been training in New York for a long time, and he has clearly expressed his desire to return to the Knicks.
Last season, Shamet played in 50 games for the Knicks, averaging 15.2 minutes, 5.7 points, and 46% shooting from the field and 40% from three-point range . In the playoffs, he shot 45% overall and 47% from three-point range in 11 games , demonstrating his effective perimeter shooting. Although not a core player, his role as a reserve shooter has earned recognition from the team and fans.
Shamet's career has been a multi-talented one. He started with the 76ers and went on to play for the Clippers, Nets, Suns, and Wizards. His two full seasons with the Suns were the most consistent of his career. After being waived by the Wizards in the summer of 2024 , he joined the Knicks and quickly earned a rotation spot with his accurate shooting.
As the new season approaches, the Knicks' backcourt selection remains uncertain. Regardless of the outcome, Shamet has proven he can still provide value in the intense playoff arena.
