The fifth round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League will feature another crucial match, with Liverpool hosting PSV Eindhoven from the Dutch Eredivisie at Anfield. Sloot stated that the "Reds" must find a way to solve their goal-conceding problems and called for the team to improve their defensive capabilities.

In the last round of the Champions League, Liverpool defeated La Liga giants Real Madrid 1-0 thanks to a goal from McAllister. Liverpool currently sits in 10th place in the Champions League standings with 9 points.

However, in the earlier Premier League match, Liverpool lost 0-3 to Nottingham Forest at home.

Liverpool manager Sloot said in a press conference: "If you look at most of our performance against Nottingham Forest, the first 30 minutes were almost exactly what I wanted to see, except we didn't convert our chances into goals. We haven't been able to create this many chances in the first 30 minutes against a low-block defense in every game this season. So for me, it's positive."

"However, they scored the first time they got into our box from a set piece, and it took us a while to recover. Then, at the start of the second half, we conceded another goal. But I still saw a team that kept working hard, so I had shown the players how many times we got into their box and how many crosses we made, but Nottingham Forest's defense inside the box was much more solid than our defense inside and outside the box."

Sloot continued, "This is something everyone keeps reminding us of, and we're reminding ourselves of it too. So we have to provide ourselves with more support defensively, I'm not just referring to the last line of defense, but the whole team. Because then people might see that we're not doing much different things when we have possession than last season. But the number of goals we've conceded this season is undoubtedly very different from last season."

Furthermore, PSV Eindhoven, managed by Peter Bosz, currently sits atop the Eredivisie standings, six points ahead of second-placed Feyenoord.

Speaking about their upcoming match against PSV Eindhoven, Sloth said, "In the past two years under Peter Bosz, PSV Eindhoven has been a team that dares to press high up the pitch and likes to build from the back. We have some similarities with them, but also some differences."

“I wouldn’t say now is the best time to play against them. I think they are probably stronger than ever. They had a tough time at the end of last season and probably didn’t have a particularly good start to this season either. But in the last two or three months, they have almost become a winning machine. They are very composed when in possession and their defense has become more solid.”

Sloet also said, "Their performance was really good. A six-point lead over Feyenoord is a remarkable achievement, as Feyenoord has also performed very well this season, which speaks volumes about their form."
