Son Heung-min is eager to lift the Europa League in Bilbao and put the perfect end to his ten-year journey at Tottenham.

The Tottenham captain played for the team for ten years, played 451 games and scored 173 goals, but never won the championship trophy. Now, with old teammates such as Lloris and Kane leaving the team one after another, Son Heung-min hopes to add weight to this journey with a trophy.

This is not the first time he has stood on the stage of the final-he was present in both the 2019 Champions League defeat to Liverpool and the 2021 League Cup defeat to Manchester City. But facing the Europa League final against Manchester United next Wednesday, Son Heung-min said that the feeling this time is completely different.

At the Europa League media day organized by the club on Monday, Son Heung-min was emotional in an interview with Korean media: "We have talked about this goal for many years. The reason why I stayed in Tottenham was because I wanted to accomplish what others did not do. This may be the reason why I am still here today. You need to put all the puzzle pieces together to complete the whole picture. I think I have collected all the other puzzle pieces."

Son Heung-min also talked about the inspiration from his former strike partner Kane. After Kane helped Bayern win the Bundesliga title, the two had a video call: "I sent a text message to Harry and he immediately called me back! Seeing him so happy, I was very happy for him. He is one of my best friends. Seeing my old comrade achieve such success, I am really happy for him like a family member."
