According to a joint report by TA reporters Joe Vardon and Sam Amick on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Clippers have finalized a contract extension with President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank. The partnership is expected to be extended for another four years, and contract extensions for other management personnel are also underway.
Frank, 55, has worked for the Clippers since 2014, serving as assistant coach, executive vice president of basketball operations, and president of basketball operations. He was named NBA Executive of the Year in 2020 and helped the Clippers reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history the following year.
When TA first revealed his contract extension plans, Frank was embroiled in controversy. In the summer of 2025, he brought in several stars, including Chris Paul, Bradley Beal, Brook Lopez, and John Collins, but the team's performance at the start of the season was disappointing. By the time he released Paul on December 3rd, the Clippers were second-to-last in the Western Conference with a record of 6 wins and 16 losses.
Besides the pressure of winning, the Clippers are also facing off-court troubles. There have been allegations that they offered Kawhi Leonard a lucrative, nominal position through a sponsor to circumvent salary cap restrictions. Although management has vehemently denied the allegations, the NBA investigation is ongoing.
However, the Clippers rebounded from their low point on December 20th. They won 15 of their 18 regular-season games, boasting a winning percentage second only to the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons. Currently, the Clippers are ranked tenth in the Western Conference standings with a record of 22 wins and 24 losses.
