Topmuller eyes Eintracht Frankfurt to seal Champions League qualification in front of home fans

Frankfurt will host St. Pauli at home in the 33rd round of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season . Topmuller said he hopes the team can secure a place in the Champions League in front of their home fans.

In the last round of the league, Frankfurt tied Mainz 1-1 away with Christensen scoring after Ekitik assisted. After 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in the last 5 rounds, Frankfurt is currently ranked third in the standings with 56 points, so Frankfurt only needs to win this game to secure a place in the Champions League.

Frankfurt coach Topmuller said, "I am looking forward to the last home game of the season with great expectations. What could be better than securing the Champions League qualification in front of our own fans? The players are full of energy and concentration on the training ground. Everyone is looking forward to this game very much."

In addition, St. Pauli lost 0-1 to Stuttgart at home in the last round of the Bundesliga and is currently ranked 15th in the standings with 31 points.

Topmuller said, "St. Pauli is a very strong team with a very solid defense and excellent tactical arrangements when facing different opponents. They have some very good ideas on the offensive end, but they lack the kind of players who can guarantee more than 10 goals a season."

“However, their overall style of play is still very entertaining to watch, so we have to play with high concentration, sharpness and aggressiveness.”

Looking back at the record of head-to-head matches, Frankfurt defeated St. Pauli 1-0 away in the first round of this season.

Topmuller continued, "They had previously beaten Stuttgart away from home and also beat Freiburg 3-0 away from home, which is not easy to do. We will not forget the first leg, when we only won 1-0 against St. Pauli. The competitiveness of the opponent should not be underestimated."

As for the team's lineup status, Topmuller said, "Götze's MRI results showed that his recovery process was normal, but he will not play again this season. Except for Götze and Koa Santos, all other players can play."
