Udinese announced on its official website on Monday that the club has triggered the contract extension clause of its captain Florian Thauvin.

According to Udinese's official statement, Thauvin has signed on a short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2026.

About Florian Thauvin

Thuvin, 32, was born on January 26, 1993 in Orléans, France. He is 1.81 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward. He can also play as a right winger or attacking midfielder.

Thauvin played for the youth academies of many non-league clubs when he was young. In 2007, he joined the youth academy of his hometown club Orléans. The following year, he moved to the Grenoble youth academy and completed his Grenoble first-team debut in March 2011.

In July 2011, Thauvin moved to Bastia as a free agent.

In January 2013, Thauvin moved to Lille for €3.5 million s, but was immediately loaned back to Bastia.

During his two-year spell with I Lioni di Furiani, Thauvin won the Ligue 2 once with the club and won the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award once for his outstanding performances.

On the last day of the 2013 winter transfer window, Thauvin moved to Marseille for €15 million.

In August 2015, Thauvin joined Newcastle United for £15 million.

During his one-and-a-half-year spell with the Magpies, Thauvin was criticized for his poor performances.

On the winter transfer window of the following year, Thauvin returned to Marseille on-loan with an option to buy, and his ownership was later officially bought out.

During this spell, he reached the Europa League final once with the club, and for a time, became a France international player due to his outstanding performances.

In January 2021, Thauvin joined the Tigres UANL as a free agent.

During his two-year spell with Tigres, he won the Liga MX once with the club.

On the 2023 winter transfer window deadline day, Thauvin joined Udinese as a free agent.

Since becoming a member of Le Zebrette, Thauvin has played 73 times for the Serie A club in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists.
