Verona Football Club officially announced the signing of Ivorian midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, with the two parties signing a contract valid until June 30, 2026.
Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro was born on October 11, 1992, in Toulouse, France. He progressed through the youth system of his hometown club, Toulouse Football Club. On August 6, 2011, at the age of 18, he made his professional debut in Ligue 1 against Ajaccio. Over his six seasons with Toulouse, he made 132 appearances, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists, often captaining the team .
In the 2017-18 season, he moved to Serie B side Salernitana, where he played for three seasons, making 61 appearances and scoring two goals for Amaranto. He joined Lazio in the 2020-21 season and made his European debut in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund on October 20, 2020. That season, he made eight appearances in Europe's top competition. During his two years at Lazio, he made 55 appearances and scored one goal.
In the 2022-23 season, Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro joined Empoli. Under the leadership of coach Zanetti, the team finished 14th with 43 points. That season, he became a key member of Empoli's midfield, making 24 appearances and contributing one goal and one assist.
