World Cup Qualifiers - Germany suffers a shock 0-2 defeat to Slovakia


In the first round of Group A of the 2026 World Cup European qualifiers, Germany, playing away, conceded goals in both the first and second half and eventually lost to Slovakia 0-2.


In the 13th minute, Germany organized an attack. Goretzka got the ball and tried to shoot, but it was cleared by the opponent. In the 19th minute, Slovakia striker Streiker passed the ball into the penalty area. Leo Sauer took the ball and shot, but it was blocked by German goalkeeper Oliver Baumann.


In the 22nd minute, Waltmade was intercepted during an attack, and Mittelstadt recovered the ball from the penalty area and shot, but the ball was saved by Slovakia goalkeeper Dubravka. In the 55th minute, Slovakia goalkeeper Dubravka kicked off, Norbert Choombo headed the ball, Strecker received it and broke into the penalty area, dealing with Rudiger's defense and scoring, helping Slovakia expand its lead to 2-0.


In the 71st minute, Germany got a free kick, Nadim Amiri chose to shoot directly, but the ball hit the wall. In the 86th minute, Wirtz made a cross from the left, but it was cleared by the opponent.


The score remained unchanged in the following period, and Germany was upset 0-2 by Slovakia.
