August 26th, Indiana Pacers officially announced on Monday that veteran assistant coach Johnny Carpenter will join head coach Rick Carlisle's coaching staff. According to team policy, the specific terms of this signing were not disclosed.

Carpenter spent last season with the Memphis Grizzlies in a player development and scouting role, primarily responsible for developing young players and evaluating potential prospects. He previously spent nine seasons with the University of Virginia Cavaliers, serving in various roles including assistant coach, player personnel director, and basketball technical assistant, accumulating extensive coaching and management experience. His extensive college coaching background has equipped him with comprehensive expertise in technical and tactical research and player development.

Carpenter also has experience working with Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle. He served as assistant video coordinator for the Dallas Mavericks during the 2014-15 season, when Carlisle was the head coach. That collaboration established a rapport between the two, and their renewed partnership is expected to enhance the Pacers' coaching staff's execution and overall coordination.

In related personnel arrangements, the Pacers also confirmed that Jim Boylen will join Lloyd Pierce and Jenny Busec as Carlisle's front-office assistant coach. Boylen has extensive experience coaching NBA teams and his addition will provide additional support for the Pacers' on-the-spot adjustments and tactical arrangements.
