The Brooklyn Nets officially announced today that they have signed guard Cam Thomas to a contract extension. Per team policy, contract details have not been disclosed.

Since being selected by the Brooklyn Nets with the 27th pick in the first round of the 2021 draft, Thomas has played for the team for four seasons and has gradually grown into the core firepower of the Nets.

In the 2023-24 season, Thomas averaged 22.5 points per game, making him one of the most improved players in the league that season. His scoring increased by 11.9 points compared to the previous year, setting a record in Brooklyn Nets history.

In the 2024-25 season, Thomas averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 25 games (23 starts), all of which set career highs. At the same time, his free throw percentage was as high as 88.1%, ranking 14th in the league.

During the season, Thomas also completed his ninth 40+ performance, ranking fourth in Brooklyn Nets history, behind only Vince Carter, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

So far, Thomas has played in 215 games in his career, averaging 15.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, with a total score of 3,255 points, ranking sixth in the history of the Brooklyn Nets players before the age of 24.

Before joining the NBA, Thomas played for Louisiana State University and became the national freshman scoring leader in the 2020-21 season with an average of 23 points per game. His 22 games of 20+ points in a single season are the best record since Shaquille O'Neal.

The Brooklyn Nets expect that this young scorer, who is only 23 years old, can lead the team back to the playoffs in the next few years.
