Ruud van Nistelrooy believes his players did not perform to their best in the first half

A few days ago, Leicester City lost to Wolves with a score of 0-3. Coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy believed that the team's performance in the first half failed to meet the expected standards.

Leicester City has gone 11 games without a win in the league, with 18 points, and their relegation fate was also settled last weekend. Although the team created some chances in the second half, Jamie Vardy won a penalty, but it was saved by Jose Sa, and Wolves immediately recovered and finally controlled the game again.

Ruud van Nistelrooy said: "We clearly lacked intensity in the first half of the game. Without the ball, we were not aggressive enough and lost too much unnecessary possession, which led to many offensive and defensive transitions that should not have occurred."

"The key to the game is mentality, as well as the intensity and motivation to go all out. Only in this way can you play at a high level and win. I am very disappointed with the result of this game. I really didn't expect it to be like this."

"Wolves' performance deserves praise. I think we didn't do a solid job in the basics of the game. The problem mainly lies in the intensity and aggression of the confrontation. We paid more attention to easy passes and ignored tough confrontations, which made me very disappointed."

Leicester City also had some bad news on the injury front, with Bobby Reid being substituted off in the first half due to injury. Facundo Bonanotte and Ricardo Pereira were also forced off at halftime due to injury.

Ruud van Nistelrooy said: "It is with great regret that Facundo Bonanotte had to leave the pitch early due to concussion symptoms. Ricardo Perreira's injury is a major blow to the team and to him personally."

"Also, I really appreciate the support from the fans who came out to support us and to see their captain play his last game. Even though they left with the same disappointment as us, it's been happening so many times this season and it's been heartbreaking."

"After being relegated, we had to focus on preparing for next season. In Jamie Vardy's farewell game, I expected more from the team and we needed to use that as motivation. Unfortunately, our performance in the first half was not good enough."
