Bucks star Damian Lillard's deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has been successfully treated and he no longer needs to take blood-thinning medication, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday.

The Milwaukee Bucks have not yet announced Lillard's specific return timetable, but said he will gradually increase his on-court activities. A source also told ESPN that Lillard will miss the playoff opener against the Indiana Pacers this Sunday.

TA reporter Sam Amick went on to add that Lillard not only participated in the Bucks' team training on Thursday, but was not subject to any restrictions.

"We are excited for Damian," Bucks general manager Jon Horst said in a statement. "Our top priority is and always will be Damian's health. We are grateful to our medical team for their early diagnosis and treatment of Damian, and to the world-class hematologists at Mayo Clinic for their support."

"Damien's recovery process has followed the detailed guidance and rigorous protocols of the world's top medical experts to ensure he can return to competition safely and healthily."

Bucks coach Doc Rivers said: "This could have been a threat to his career, but right now, Lillard has a great chance to return in the playoffs, which is a godsend."

The 34-year-old Lillard has played 58 times this season, averaging 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.21 steals in 36.1 minutes per game, shooting 44.8% from the field and 37.6% from three-point range. However, he has been out since March 18 due to deep vein thrombosis in his right calf, during which the Bucks have a record of 10 wins and 4 losses.

Medical experts told Bucks management that Lillard's recovery speed was unprecedented. They further pointed out that early detection and treatment, as well as the active intervention of experts before the formal diagnosis, were the key to Lillard's rapid recovery.
