Angers issued a statement on Wednesday announcing the contract extension with Pierrick Capel and Abdoulaye Bamba until June 2026. The two are currently in the last 12 days of their original contracts.

Pierrick Capel

The 38-year-old Pierrick Capel mainly plays as a central midfielder, but can also play as a left midfielder, left back, etc. He has played for many low-level teams such as Avion and Quevilly Rouen until he signed his first professional contract with French Ligue 2 club Clermont in 2012.

In July 2015, Capel left Clermont and joined Angers as a free agent. He has played for Angers for 10 seasons, during which he has made 306 appearances, contributed 24 goals and 18 assists, and has served as captain since 2022.

Regarding Capel's contract extension, Angers said in a statement: "As a core member of the locker room, Pierrik is known for his calmness both on and off the court. He is also an important bridge between the team's veterans and young players."

Abdoulaye Bamba

The 35-year-old Abdoulaye Bamba was born in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, and received youth training at Juventus in his early years. He played for Dijon for 6 seasons and joined Angers as a free agent in January 2017.

Bamba has spent eight years in Angers so far. He mainly plays as a right back and a central defender in Angers, making 183 appearances and providing nine assists.
