Manchester City officially announced on Friday that they have completed a contract extension with Brazilian winger Savinho. The new contract will extend the contract by two years, from its original expiration date of 2029, until June 30, 2031.

This move shows that Manchester City attaches great importance to Savinho. Various signs indicate that Tottenham had offered £42 million to buy Savinho this summer, but was ultimately not approved by Manchester City.

Manchester City's director of football, Hugo Viana, also spoke highly of Savinho in many ways. He said: "Savinho may be young, but he has already demonstrated all the qualities needed to become a truly top player. He possesses many exceptional qualities. His potential is virtually unlimited."

"He's incredibly talented, works hard day in and day out, and is incredibly humble. He's eager to learn and contribute to the team. His goal is to become one of the best attackers in the world."

"I have no doubt that as long as he continues to work with Pep and his coaching staff, Savinho will become a key member of our squad for many years to come," Viana concluded.

The 21-year-old Savinho, a graduate of Atlético Mineiro's youth academy, joined Troyes in 2022 before being loaned out to PSV Eindhoven and Girona to gain experience. He showed great potential during his time at Girona, contributing 11 goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Thanks to his outstanding performance in Girona, Savinho moved to Manchester City for 30.8 million pounds in July last year. So far, he has played 54 times for Manchester City, scoring 4 goals and sending 13 assists, and won 1 Community Shield championship with the team.

After completing the contract extension, Savinho excitedly said: "I am extremely proud to sign a new contract with Manchester City. Guardiola and the club have such confidence in me, which makes me feel very special. The contract extension means a lot to me and my family."
