Former England international and former Liverpool player Andy Carroll has returned to the English arena and officially joined England's sixth-tier team Dagenham and Redbridge as a free agent.
After ending his contract with French team Bordeaux, Carroll did not pursue fame and fortune in higher-level leagues, but chose the lifestyle and career path that best suits him.
In an interview, Carroll said: "The level of the game doesn't matter to me, as long as I can play, that's the most important thing. I did receive invitations from higher leagues, but now I value life and inner choices more."
"We have one goal, which is to lead the team back to the professional league system. This is a plan worth looking forward to, and I am more excited than ever."
On the same day that Carroll joined, the club also announced a sale agreement, with 100% of the shares to be transferred to a group of Qatari private investors, injecting new impetus into future development.
Carroll started his career at Newcastle United and moved to Liverpool for £35 million in 2011, becoming the club's record transfer holder at the time.
Although Carroll failed to fully realize his potential at Anfield, he subsequently played for West Ham United, Reading, West Bromwich Albion and Amiens, and scored 11 league goals for Bordeaux last season.
Although he has been away from English clubs for a long time, Carroll still sticks to his football dream. Now, he chooses to start a new journey from the sixth level.
