Arsenal Women have officially announced that Canadian international Olivia Smith has joined the team on a long-term contract.

The 20-year-old striker is regarded as one of the most promising new stars in football. His transfer from Liverpool to Arsenal will inject more vitality and creativity into the team's front line.

Smith started her career in Canada and then honed her skills in the American university system. In July 2023, she started her European journey and signed her first professional contract with Sporting CP, where she delivered a brilliant performance with one goal and one assist in her debut.

In the 2023-24 season, Smith made 28 appearances for Sporting CP and contributed 16 goals. She eventually won the Portuguese Women's Football League Player of the Year and Best Young Player awards, and became famous.

In July 2024, Smith moved to England and joined Liverpool. She quickly adapted to the rhythm of the Women's Super League, played 25 games for the team and scored 9 goals. At the end of the season, Smith was named Liverpool's Player of the Year and was nominated for the Women's Super League Rising Star Award. Her strength was highly recognized.

Smith has also achieved impressive results in international competitions. In 2019, she made her debut for the Canadian women's national team at the age of 15, becoming the youngest player in the history of the national team.

To date, Smith has played 18 games for the national team, scoring four goals, and participated in the 2023 Women's World Cup and the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup, winning the Best Young Player Award in the latter, and was also named Canada's Young Player of the Year.
