Crystal Palace thumped Aston Villa with a comprehensive 3-0 win in the 2024/25 FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, to reach the final again after 9 years.

In the first half, Mateta's goal was ruled out after he maliciously brought down Konsa, and Eze scored a wonder goal. In the second half, Mateta missed a penalty, and Sarr scored a wonder goal first and then volleyed into the net. In the end, Crystal Palace defeated Aston Villa by 3-0. It is worth mentioning that this will be the third time that the Eagles reached the FA Cup final in their club history. The club entered the final twice in 2009 and 2016, but lost to Manchester United both times.

First Half

In the 24th minute, Lucas Digne crossed into the box from the left wing. Morgan Rogers quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot went wide of the left side of the post.

5 minutes later, Chris Richards made a long pass from his own back half. After successfully beating the offside trap, Jean-Philippe Mateta quickly followed up, intercepted, stolen possession of the ball, dribbled into the center of the box before pushing the ball and pushed the ball into the bottom right corner of the empty net with his right foot against the outrushing Emiliano Martínez. However, the referee immediately blew the whistle and accurately ruled that Mateta fouled Ezri Konsa maliciously when he stolen possession of the ball in the first place, hence the goal was ruled out!

Ebrechi Eze quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, took a long shot with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area. His shot flew straight into the higher center of the net turning it into a wonder goal and leaving Martínez out of reach. Crystal Palace broke the deadlock first to take a 1-0 lead 1-0! This is the second time that Eze has scored a wonder goal from the same angle and shooting method since the Premier League match against Arsenal a few days ago!

8 minutes later, Aston Villa got a corner kick opportunity. Marco Asensio took the corner kick took the corner by crossing it into the box. Ezri Konsa rose high and attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box. However, his effort was saved by Dean Henderson in front of the goal line. The Villans missed the golden opportunity to equalize Crystal Palace!

At the end of the first half, Crystal Palace temporarily led Aston Villa by 1-0 into the half-time break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 49th minute, Matty Cash crossed into the box from the right wing. John McGinn quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot was bravely saved by Henderson.

Soon after, Boubacar Kamara headed the ball across. Lucas Digne quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, took a long shot with his left foot from outside the penalty area, but his shot was saved by Henderson.

4 minutes later, Adam Wharton made a straight pass from the front. Eze quickly followed up and when got the ball, was tripped by Kamara who came forward to press him on the left side of the box. The referee immediately blew the whistle to award Crystal Palace a penalty!

Mateta took the penalty kick with a right-footed shot. However, his effort went wide of the right side of the post. Crystal Palace missed the golden opportunity to expand their lead!

In the 58th minute, Crystal Palace made a deadly quick counterattack. Mateta passes horizontally from the front. Ismaïla Sarr quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before taking a long shot with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area. His shot flew straight into the bottom right corner of the net turning it into a wonder goal and leaving Martínez out of reach. Crystal Palace expanded their lead to 2-0!

8 minutes later, Rogers crossed from the left side of the box. The ball was initially saved and cleared off not far away by Henderson. Upon picking up the loose ball, Leon Bailey volleyed with his left foot from the right side of the box, but his shot was blocked by Tyrick Mitchell.

In the 78th minute, Ross Barkley passes horizontally from the left wing Bailey quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box before volleying with his right foot at a small angle, but the ball was saved by Henderson.

In the 4th minute of injury time, Crystal Palace made a deadly quick counterattack. Eddie Nketiah intercepted the ball and passes horizontally from the left wing. Sarr quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the center of the box before volleying into the bottom left corner of the empty net with his right foot against the outrushing Martínez to score twice ! This is the second time that the former Watford and Marseille winger has scored twice in the game against Villa since February!

When the final whistle is blown, Crystal Palace thrashed Aston Villa by 3-0.
