Udinese pulled off a stunning 1-0 upset win over Napoli on matchday 15 of the 2025/26 Serie A season at the Stadio Friuli on Sunday.

In the first half, neither side created many threatening scoring opportunities, with Lang's rebound going high and wide. In the second half, Davis scored from a rebound but his goal was ruled out, Piotrowski's shot hit the crossbar after being parried away, and Zaniolo's goal from a long-range effort was also ruled out. Later, Ekkelenkamp scored with a beautiful long-range strike. In a crucial moment, Lucca's close-range shot hit the post. Ultimately, Udinese pulled off a 1-0 upset victory over Napoli. After this round of matches, Le Zebrette temporarily sits in 10th place on the table with 21 points; I Partenopei temporarily sits in 3rd place with 31 points.

First Half

In the 11th minute, Napoli earned a corner kick opportuity. David Neres took the corner by crossing it into the box. His pass was initially parried and cleared off not far away by Maduka Okoye. Noa Lang quickly followed up and upon picking up the loose ball, took a right-footed follow-up shot from the left side of the box, but his shot flew high out of the pitch.

This was the most dangerous scoring opportunity for both teams so far. The first half ended with Udinese and Napoli temporarily drawing 0-0 at halftime.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 52nd minute, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp passed the ball back from the left wing. Nicolò Bertola quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled and cut insides before taking a right-footed long shot the edge of the penalty area. His shot was initially saved and cleared off not far away by Vanja Milinković-Savić. Upon picking up the loose ball, Keinan Davis took a left-footed follow-up shot shot which ended up in the bottom right corner of the net from the right side of the box. However, the VAR assistant referee immediately intervened!

After VAR review, the refereeing team ruled that Davis was offside, and his goal was ruled out!

7 minutes later, Ekkelenkamp passed the ball back from the right side of the box. Jakub Piotrowski quickly followed up, got the ball, and took a few steps before taking right-footed shot from the right side of the box. His shot was initially parried away by Vanja Milinković-Savić before hitting the crossbar and bounced off! Udinese missed another golden opportunity to take the lead!

In the 68th minute, Ekkelenkamp passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Nicolò Zaniolo quickly followed up and stopped the ball before volleying with his left foot from the right side of the box, but his shot went just slightly wide of the right side of the post.

Shortly after, Piotrowski made a straight pass from near the midfield center circle. Zaniolo quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled towards the edge of the penalty area before striking the ball into the lower center of the net with a left-footed long shot. However, the VAR assistant referee intervened again!

After reviewing the VAR footage, the referee ruled that Jesper Kallström had fouled Stanislav Lobotka, thus ruling out the goal!

In the 73rd minute, Davis passes horizontally from the front. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp quickly followed-up, got the ball, drribled and cuts inside before taking a right-footed long shot from outside the penalty area. His shot flew straight into the top right corner of the net, turning it into a wonder-goal that Milinković-Savić couldn't reach. Udinese finally broke the deadlock by taking a 1-0 lead! The Dutch winger finally ended his nine-month goal drought!

In the 88th minute, Lorenzo Lucca passes horizontally from the right side of the box. Rasmus Højlund quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, took a right-footed shot from a very close distance in the box, but his shot somehow flew high out of the pitch. Napoli missed a golden opportunity to equalize against Udinese with a late goal!

In the third minute of stoppage time, Højlund crossed from the left side of the box. Lucca quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, strucked the ball with a right-footed shot from a very close distance in the box, but his shot unfortunately struck the bottom right corner of the post and bounced off! Napoli missed another golden opportunity to equalize against Udinese with a late goal!

When the final whistle is blown, Udinese pulled off a stunning 1-0 upset win over a lackluster Napoli.
