Wolfsburg sacked head coach Paul Simonis following a three-game losing streak..

Wolfsburg announced on their official website on Monday that head coach Paul Simonis has been sacked effective immediately.

According to Wolfsburg's official statement, Simonis' assistants Peter van der Veen, Tristan Berghuis, and Martin Danerviel will also be sacked effective immediately.

U19s team head coach Daniel Bauer will temporarily assume the first-team head coach position until a new head coach is appointed.

U19 teams assistant coach Julian Kramt and U17s team head coach Tobias Holm will temporarily assist Bauer along with the remaining first-team assistant coaching staff.

Regarding the decision to dismiss Simeone, Wolfsburg sporting director Peter Christiansen said: "The decision to dismiss Paul Simonis was not easy for us. Paul is a meticulous coach, he works with passion, and he has demonstrated superb professionalism. We highly value his work, his ideas, and his relationship with the team, which is why I am particularly sorry to have taken this step."

"However, we must recognize that in football, results and points are ultimately the key, and the situation in recent weeks has not been ideal. After in-depth discussions with the board, we have concluded that changes are needed now to achieve stability and success on the pitch."

"We are all responsible for the current situation, including the sporting management, coaching staff, players, and the entire club. We thank Paul and his assistant coaches for their work and commitment, and wish him all the best for the future."

According to a report from Kicker, Wolfsburg may consider appointing former Union Berlin legendary head coach Urs Fischer after Simonis' sacking.

If an agreement cannot be reached with Fischer, Wolfsburg might consider appointing former Hamburg head coach Tim Walter.

Currently, there is no indication that Wolfsburg is considering appointing former Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner.

Wolfsburg recently suffered a shock defeat to mid-table 2. Bundesliga club Holstein Kiel in the DFB-Pokal, followed by consecutive losses to Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen, resulting in a three-game losing streak.

Coupled with their poor performances since the start of the season, Simonis' position has been precarious for some time, until now that the board has finally decided to make a change.

After a series of setbacks, Wolfsburg, with only 2 wins, 2 draws, and 6 losses in 10 matches, currently sits in 14th place on the Bundesliga table with 8 points, just 3 points above the relegation zone.
