Ben Davies: I hope our hard work will pay off

The 2025 UEFA Super Cup will be played at the Stadio Friuli, with Tottenham Hotspur set to face Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in the competition. Speaking at a press conference, Ben Davies expressed his hope that the team's immense efforts will be rewarded.

In the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League final, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United 1-0 after Brennan Johnson scored, successfully ending their 17-year goal drought.

But unfortunately, South Korean star Son Heung-min, who played for Tottenham Hotspur for 10 years, left the team last week.

Ben Davies, a Tottenham Hotspur defender who has played alongside Son Heung-min for many years, said, "We lost Son Heung-min this summer. He has always been an important part of the locker room and a great player on the field, and we will miss him very much. We senior players must take responsibility and help every teammate have the opportunity to step up and show their strength as a player and as an individual."

As for Paris Saint-Germain, Enrique's team defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final last season and successfully won the championship.

Ben Davies continued, "We are going to play against the best team in the world, which is a challenge. But as we saw in the summer, they are not invincible or impeccable. We must gain confidence and give our all."

Speaking about manager Thomas Frank, Ben Davies said: “The manager has brought a lot of energy to the team since he arrived, and the teammates have really enjoyed training with him. He has arranged a lot of high-quality training, focusing on the team’s tactical structure and the details we think can be improved. It has been very exciting so far. Although it has only been a few weeks, we hope that these efforts will show results in tomorrow’s game.”

“I’m not sure ‘cautious’ is the right word. This season we’ll definitely have different plans for each opponent, and that starts tomorrow. We feel we’ve trained and prepared well enough to give our all and give our best performance to beat Paris Saint-Germain, and hopefully our efforts will pay off.”
