With goals from Carvalho and Igor Thiago, Brentford defeated Bournemouth 2-0 in the second round of the 2025/26 English League Cup. Keith Andrews said his team showed great cohesion and fighting spirit in the game.
In the match against Bournemouth, Ayer assisted Carvalho to score in the 34th minute, helping Brentford take the lead 1-0. In the 65th minute of the second half, Igor Thiago broke through Bournemouth's goal, extending Brentford's lead to 2-0.
