Augsburg loses to Dortmund; Sandro Wagner: We did everything we could to limit our opponents.

Augsburg lost 0-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the 9th round of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season after conceding a goal in the first half. Head coach Sandro Wagner stated that his team actually played very well and did their best to limit Dortmund.

In the 37th minute of the match, Augsburg made a mistake while clearing the ball, and Guirassy gained possession and entered the penalty area to score with a powerful shot, giving Dortmund a 1-0 lead.

Augsburg were unable to reverse their losing streak and ultimately lost 0-1 to Dortmund at home, suffering their second consecutive defeat.

Augsburg coach Sandro Wagner said, "First of all, congratulations to Dortmund. We went into this game with high expectations, so of course everyone is disappointed. But we actually played quite well and made some adjustments. We did our best to limit our opponents and gave them almost no chances. In the end, we were probably just a little bit unlucky and couldn't equalize."

Coffin Schlotterbeck said, "I want to give the team some credit. We gave it our all and fought until the very end. We are certainly disappointed with the result, especially with the unfortunate deflection that led to the goal, which was a really painful one. We also had good possession during the game, but unfortunately we didn't create enough scoring opportunities."

"It's really difficult to score against Dortmund because their defense is very solid. But we showed great fighting spirit throughout the game, and we will continue to stick together."

In addition, Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Damen said, "It's a frustrating defeat because we actually played quite well. Dortmund basically only had one chance and converted it into a goal. Our defense was solid, which is the most important thing."

"After this week, the team deserves recognition for playing like this against Dortmund. We deserved a point, and if we continue to work hard, I believe we will eventually turn things around."
