Augsburg issued a statement on Monday, announcing that it has completed the contract extension with 18-year-old central defender Noake Banks. The new contract will extend the original framework by two years and will be valid until June 30, 2029.
Noakai Banks was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2006 and holds dual citizenship of the United States and Germany. He has been growing up in the Augsburg youth training system since he was 9 years old, and made his Bundesliga debut for the first team on January 12, 2025.
So far, Banks has been shuttling back and forth between Augsburg's first team and U23, playing a total of 8 Bundesliga games.
Augsburg CEO Michael Stehler explained the decision to renew Banks' contract: "Noahkai Banks' performance in his Bundesliga debut and in the second half of last season fully demonstrated his great potential. He has proved that he is capable of gaining a foothold in the professional arena. His outstanding performance at such a young age has won him the attention of the outside world."
"We are therefore very pleased that Noake has signed a long-term contract extension with Augsburg. It is not only a special story that a player who came through our academy can stay with us for the 11th consecutive season, but it also reflects the operating philosophy of our club."
Banks said: "I experienced professional football for the first time last season, and that experience meant a lot to me. However, I am not satisfied with this. I am eager to take the next step in my career."
“The club has a clear development plan for me and has given me long-term support. I very much look forward to working with the club in the coming years ,” he concluded.
