Leading American online media outlet Bleacher Report, reported on Tuesday that Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane was fined $35,000 for pelting the ball at New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby during a recent game between both teams.

According to the report, although the two quickly reconciled afterward, and the incident occurred in a moment of heightened emotion, Bane's sudden and unprovoked violent act, warranted a technical foul and a fine from the NBA to deter such unsportsmanlike behaviour.

In fact, the two embraced and laughed shortly after their teammates separated them, seemingly unconcerned about the incident. Anunoby even joked after the game that he should have caught the ball Bane threw at him.

The Incident

The incident occurred during the New York Knicks' 106-100 victory over the Magic.

In the fourth quarter, Anunoby lost possession on a fast break layup, and two Orlando Magic guards quickly closed in. The ball bounced to Bane, who caught it and pelted it at Anunoby, who was already out of bounds.

Anunoby immediately stood up, looking bewildered, and then gently pushed Bane. The referees quickly separated the two, and both coaching staff and benches entered the game. Bane was given a technical foul.

It's worth noting that this is the second time this year that Bane has been fined for such conduct.

Previously, Bane was also ejected from a game against the Atlanta Hawks for violent conduct.

At that time, after committing a transition offensive foul, Bane pelting the ball at Hawks forward Onyeka Okongwu's head and was ejected. He later called it a "hard foul."

OG Anunoby had missed nine consecutive games due to a hamstring injury; this was his second game back. He scored 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting and grabbed 7 rebounds in 28 minutes of play.

Both the Magic and the Knicks are currently in contention for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, with the Knicks ranked second and the Magic fifth. The Magic had won two of their three games before Monday's matchup, and the two teams will not face each other again in the regular season.
